Everyone at one point has made use of the google search page to search for one item or the other, however did you know that you can use google for other things than finding a definition or locating an item? Google has a lot of hacks and tricks within it and below are some of them. before you rush in to try them though, go to settings and disable Google Instant predictions to make sure it works out beautifully.
- Countdown timer and Stopwatch: If you need a timer on the go, you can get one to make use of on Google. Just go to your goggle search bar and type in ‘countdown timer’. When the page loads you have a timer ready for you to use. Just enter your values and let the timer do its job. Similarly, if you need to make use of a stopwatch, just open your web browser and on the google search home page type in ‘stopwatch’. Ta da! You have a stopwatch ready for you to use.
- Pacman: Pacman is an arcade game. It was developed by Toru Iwatani. It’s a very engrossing game in which the character Pac-man has to be controlled to go through a maze, eating Pac-dots until it has eaten all Pac-dot while avoiding ‘enemies’. When this is accomplished Pac-man is taken to the next stage. On google, it was originally a google doodle created to commemorate the classic game’s 30th birthday. However this game has found a permanent secret home on google.
If you ever get bored and need to engage yourself in a game, open up your web browser and type in Pacman. Once the page opens you’d be directed to “Tap to play”. Awesome right? Go ahead and enjoy yourself but make sure you have nothing else important to do for the rest of the day or else you'd end up getting nothing done. - Atari Breakout: This is another entertaining hidden feature on Google. It is a game whereby a layer of bricks lines the top third of the screen. A ball travels across the screen, bouncing off the top and side walls of the screen. When a brick is hit, the ball bounces away and the brick is destroyed. The player loses a turn when the ball touches the bottom of the screen and to prevent this from happening, the player has a movable paddle to bounce the ball upward, keeping it in play. For you to access this wonderful feature, type ‘Atari Breakout’ on the google search page of your web browser and voila! You have a game ready for you to play. A word of caution though: like Pac-man this game is addictive and you might not get anything done.
- Calculator: There’s a calculator hidden within the google search page and you can access it by typing in the word ‘calculator’. If you want the scientific calculator to appear, just type in the word ‘Scientific calculator’.
Here's a bonus trick: It is actually not a usable trick but it works anyways. Type in the word 'askew' on your google search homepage and watch what happens. You should get something like this:
Did it work for you? Let us know in the comments.
Askew worked!! It Titled the screen somehow!
